The Best is Yet to Come

My husband and I wanted to do something really special for our fifth anniversary.  After months of discussion and tossing around several ideas, we decided to go to Las Vegas and renew our vows.  In true Vegas style, we decided to go big.

I really wanted Retro Vegas renewal, so we decided to renew our vows in a vintage pink Cadillac in a drive-thru chapel.  I had a short silver dress made and my husband, B, wore his dress blues.

It took me awhile to try to figure out what accessories I wanted for the event.  I had a few months to figure it out, so I took plenty of time to look around and see what was available. While looking for accessories, I found a brooch bouquet for the first time and fell in LOVE.  I had to have one and this was the perfect excuse event to have one.  I rationalized by thinking I could pack it up and take it with me on the plane and wouldn't have to worry about getting a fresh bouquet when I arrived.  A bouquet wasn't initially part of the plan and was definitely not a necessity, but I couldn't resist.  I found several gorgeous bouquets on ETSY and a lot of shops make custom bouquets, but I decided to try my hand at making my own.  It took awhile and was definitely not the easiest thing to make, but I loved how it turned out.

I had a hard time deciding on the other accessories as well.  I needed something that would work with the silver dress but also coordinate with the rest of the theme.  I searched and searched and finally found this necklace and veil on ETSY.  If y'all haven't been on ETSY yet, you need to.  You can find the most amazing hand crafted items.  It's the first place I look now when I need something unique.

Once we made all these plans, we decided it would really be worthwhile to have a photographer to capture our event.  I didn't want to look back and not have any photos of this later and regret the decision not to have the moment captured.  Looking back though, hiring a photographer was one of the best decisions I think we made.   I was especially hesitant to hire a photographer I'd found online.  It's really hard to get a feel for who you will be working with over the internet.  I feel in love with Kelsey's portfolio on her website Evoking You Portraits and she was so patient and responsive with all my questions and concerns.  She was absolutely amazing to work with.  We had a blast with her during the shoot and we were so excited to see the pictures.  She did not disappoint, they were even more amazing that we were hoping for.

The entire event was a blast.  It was even better than we ever expected it to be- so relaxed and stress free and so special.  We started with Kelsey, walking down the strip and ended with a fantastic experience at the Chapel.  Everyone was amazing and made the entire renewal so memorable.  We had so many people congratulate us and wish us the best and it really was an amazing experience.

Here are a few favorites from the day, but you can check out more photos on Kelsey's blog!

Hope you enjoy!!
